A performer of  “gripping brilliance” and “prodigious energy and skill” (Vancouver Classical Music), hailed as “simply amazing” and “spellbinding.” (Rochester Fringe Festival), New York-based violinist Lauren Cauley is a sought after soloist and chamber musician and  has worked with numerous established composers and artists the likes of Ambrose Akinmusire, Michael Bublé, Chance the Rapper, Michael Gordon, Josh Groban, Georg Friedrich Haas, Jónsi & Alex Somers (Sigur Rós), Ezra Koenig (Vampire Weekend), David Lang, George Lewis, Steve Reich, Emily Wells, Saul Williams, Together X Tomorrow (투모로우바이투게더), and Julia Wolfe. She has collaborated for performance premieres at Carnegie Hall, the Library of Congress, Prague’s Rudolfinum, and Salzburg’s Mozarteum, and maintains an international career across four continents.

Lauren has performed at festivals such as Lincoln Center Festival, Venice Biennale, Acht Brücken, Newport Jazz Festival, Darmstadt, Asphalt Festival, Bang on a Can Summer Festival, Beijing Modern Music Festival, ECLAT, Ear We Are, Impuls, June in Buffalo, KLANG, New York City Electroacoustic Music Festival, Winter Jazzfest NYC, Sympósio Internacional de Música Nova, and the Perlman Music Program Chamber Music Workshop. Lauren’s playing has been broadcast on WNYC, ORF Radio Wien, WDR Köln, Radio SRF 2 Kultur, and NBC’s Saturday Night Live. As a collaborator, Lauren can be heard on Albany Records, ATMA Classique, New Focus Recordings, Physical Editions, RGNVintl, and Blue Note labels. In 2018, Lauren appeared on two of NPR’s 50 Best Albums of 2018.

As a guest artist and educator, Lauren has given performances and worked with students at universities around the world, including Bard College; Berklee College of Music; Chinese University of Hong Kong; Cornell University; Dartmouth College; Eastman School of Music; Harvard University; Shanghai Conservatory; Universidade Federal do Paraná; University of Alaska, Anchorage; University of California, Berkeley; University of California, San Diego; and Wesleyan University.

Lauren received her BM and MM in Violin Performance from the Eastman School of Music, where she served as Teaching Assistant to Charles Castleman. While at Eastman, Lauren was awarded a DAAD grant to study at the Bauhaus Universität in Weimar, Germany. After Eastman, Lauren attended the International Ensemble Modern Academy, Klangspuren Schwaz. In addition to performing, Lauren teaches privately in Manhattan and is faculty at the Chamber Music Center of New York. She plays a Parisian violin made by François Gaviniès in 1734.
