Kelli Gurman Aka DJ “Kelli Kel” is the heart of the groove for Tribe 1. Her credits as a keyboardist/vocalist include Good Christian Belles, Soul Train, Melrose Place, Fame LA, Morris Day, Teena Marie, The Beach Boys, David Cassidy and “The Day Z’s” (on Warner Bros./Reprise). Kelli has performed for Al Pacino, John Travolta, Whoppie Goldberg, Jim Carey, Robert Dinero and Seal as well as numerous heads of state. Her diverse musical background gives her the special ability to deliver the right song at the right moment to please any demographic. Kelli studied music and African dance at California Institute of the Arts, the Disney school for the performing arts. If you watch television or listen to the radio, you have heard Kelli. As a DJ she has rocked the house for Sony Pictures, Deluxe, Sketchers, Capitol EMI, Toyota, Wells Fargo, Prudential Insurance, Enterprise Rent-A-Car, Allstate as well as some of the West Coasts most chic and cutting edge FOrtue 500 social events and parties. Kelli lays down the foundation for the Tribe to build on.
Percussionist M.B. Gordyis an icon in the Los Angeles music scene. M.B is a featured percussionist with the Doobie Brothers, the Lion King, Frank Zappa, John Tesh, 3 Dog Night, Juan Gabriel, Bill Withers, The Tonight Show, The Hollywood Bowl Orchestra, Loggins and Messina, Greenday and dozens of film and TV scores including The Crow, Stigmata, The Siege, King of the Hill, King of Queens, and Good Morning America to name only a few. A graduate of California Institute of the Arts, M.B. has vast experience in all types of percussion including Indian, African, Chinese, Japanese and classical music. M.B. Gordy adds explosive live energy to the Tribe 1mix.
Guitarist and vocalist, Mat “Gurmanator” Gurman has appeared with the Tonight Show Band backing up the Backstreet Boys, k.d. lang, Lisa Loeb and Tanya Tucker. You have probably heard Mats work and wondered who let the dogs out? His diverse credits include Star Trek, B.B. King, Jag, MTV, Steve Allen, David Cassidy, Comedy Central, VH1 and dozens of award shows, sitcoms and major motion pictures including Man on the Moon, Rat Pack, Brotherly Love and Melrose Place. Guitar Player Magazine has featured Mat on 2 occasions calling him “A terrific player...craftycomposer…lustrous tone…with heavy weight credentials”. Mat is the wild man of Tribe 1, jumping from guitar groove and over the top solos to percussion and vocals when the spirit calls him.
