Ben Gimm, Pianist
Ben Gimm has appeared as a recitalist and collaborator throughout the Pacific Northwest. He is a graduate of Portland State University, holding MM and BM degrees in piano performance. His repertoire includes the music of jazz greats such as Dave Brubeck, Bill Evans, Oscar Peterson, and Erroll Garner as well as the music of Russian-Ukrainian jazz composer Nikolai Kapustin.
Praised for his effortless technique and tremendous sensitivity, his trio was a finalist in the MTNA national competition for chamber strings. His recording of Alex Shapira's new music for piano duo with pianist Sequoia was released recently on the album "Jun" (Skydeck Music, 2024), presented by Sounds New NACUSA.
In the Portland area, other appearances include Orpheus PDX, Lark Opera, Lakewood Theatre, The Portland Ballet, Blueprint Ensemble, and Cascadia Composers.
