Romantic Gestures
Since its inception in 2004, Romantic Gestures has quickly gained a reputation for delivering deep swing, elegant performances, and a musical sophistication that belies the group’s relatively young ages.
Individually, Oscar, Ulysses, Matthew and Charenee have a broad range of professional and education experiences that have allowed them to travel across the United States and to such diverse destinations as Russia, Taiwan, Europe, and Japan. They have performed with jazz luminaries such as Wynton Marsalis, Benny Golson, Kenny Barron, Christian McBride, Steve Turre, Mulgrew Miller, Wycliffe Gordon, Russell Malone and many others.
As alumni of The Juilliard School, Manhattan School of Music, New England Conservatory, and Berklee College of Music, each member has developed insightful contributions to the educational clinics that The Quartet conducts, and their attention to preserving this great music through teaching is clearly evident.
Stepping outside of the typical singer and rhythm section conventions, these award-winning artists bring a vibrancy and urgency to the great heritage of jazz.
