Christian Gonzales
Violinist Christian Gonzales has performed as a soloist, chamber musician, and orchestral musician across the United States. A native of San Diego, he has played violin for fourteen years, and is a graduate of Juilliard and UCLA.
Christian is a winner of the Atwater Kent competition, and prizewinner of the San Diego Musical Merit, La Jolla Young Artists, and Grossmont MSC competitions. He has appeared in venues throughout the country such as Carnegie Hall, Walt Disney Concert Hall, and the Tanglewood Music Festival. In Southern California, Christian has peformed in recitals for the Da Camera Society, La Jolla Music Society, Solana Salon Concert Series, and the La Jolla Presbyterian Church Concert Series among others. He has also been a soloist with orchestras including the UCLA Symphony, the International Youth Symphony, the Cuyamaca Chamber Orchestra, and the East County Youth Symphony. As an orchestral musician, Christian has been the concertmaster of the Tanglewood Music Center Orchestra and the UCLA Philharmonia, and associate concertmaster of the Juilliard Orchestra. Through his diverse experiences as a musician, his collaborations have ranged from members of Mariachi los Camperos to the New York Philharmonic.
Outside of performance, Christian is also busy forming a violin studio in San Diego and has studied pedagogy at Juilliard.
Beyond of the traditional classical world, Christian has experience in mariachi, tango, liturgical music, and rock.
