Melia Duo
Melia Duo is comprised of flutist Melanie Chirignan and pianist Melinda Faylor. They perform both classical and partially improvised music, having recently released an EP of their music that can be found on Bandcamp. Ms Faylor is a pianist/composer based in NYC with degrees from Oberlin and Manhattan School of music. Melanie Chirignan is a flutist/teaching artist that lives in the capital region of NY with degrees from Fredonia and the Hartt School of Music. "Melia" may mean “sweetness” along with “blackness/darkness,” “diligence,” and “courage.” Such a multifaceted word seemed fitting to the duo as their repertoire is so eclectic. Since their collaboration began in May 2024, they have performed at Arts Letters & Numbers, Ten Broeck Mansion, the Albany Institute of Art and History, and the Saratoga Senior Center.
