David Nakazono
David Nakazono found his true voice in the trumpet, allowing him to connect with audiences, fellow performers, and himself. He believes that music is a special phenomenon that allows us to create a connection that transcends language, culture, space, and time. Whether with an orchestra, a brass quintet, a jazz band, or a solo on stage, David aims to create resonance between people, the natural world, and life through music.
David’s musical journey has taken him around the world and across the paths of countless people. You can catch David performing in various genres and venues across the Midwest including with the Peoria Symphony, Wisconsin Philharmonic, South Bend Symphony, Lakeshore Brass, and the Chicago Symphony.
Throughout his career, David Nakazono has achieved remarkable milestones, including performances in Italy, Germany, and Turkey during his formative years. He has refined his musicianship and technical prowess under the careful guidance of his teachers including Mark Ridenour and Esteban Batallan of the Chicago Symphony, Neal Berntsen of the Pittsburgh Symphony, Grant Hungerford in California, Friedhelm Biessecker of the Staatsphilharmonie Rheinland-Pfalz, and Kenneth Capshaw of the El Paso Symphony.
Following his studies, David has won positions with the Peoria Symphony, the Wisconsin Philharmonic, the South Bend Symphony, and the Civic Orchestra of Chicago. He has also guest performed with the Illinois Symphony, the National Repertory Orchestra, the Elmhurst Symphony, and the Chicago Symphony. He has performed as guest principal with the Fort Wayne Philharmonic, Dubuque Symphony, Peoria Symphony, and the Wisconsin Philharmonic. Additionally, David has been a featured soloist with the Peoria Symphony.
