Steve Burks
A deeply soulful vocalist and pianist, in the vein of such artists as Donny Hathaway, Luther Vandross, Stevie Wonder, John Legend, and Smokie Norful, Steve's repertoire includes original and cover material, as well as soulful tunes from genres outside of soul, R&B, and gospel.
Steve is a native of Gary, Indiana, and a graduate of the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music. He has worked as Associate Instructor, IU Soul Revue, African American Arts Institute, Indiana University; choir teacher, Dallas Independent School District; vocalist and keyboardist, House of Blues Music Forward Foundation; arranger, Cherry Lane Music Publishing; vocalist & pianist, Carnival Cruise Lines; vocalist and pianist, Seasons 52 Restaurants; and a gospel musician at various churches.
