Shaula Kitan Walko
Relaxed, easy listening steel drum music. Pop, jazz and island favorites combine for the feel of a dreamy, breezy, lazy afternoon.
Raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, Shaula Kitan Walko developed a strong appreciation for culture and the arts. At age 15 she became Principal Second Violinist in the San Jose Youth Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Maestro Eugene Stoia, continuing on to participate in various types of musical projects including folk music, live theater and studio recording. She later studied for a Bachelor of Music Degree as a percussion major at San Diego State University and it was during her senior year in that program that Shaula discovered and fell in love with pan. Inspired by Andy Narell's use of the steel drum, or pan, outside of its typical niche category, Shaula has brought pan into the realm of reggae, rock, hip hop, holiday, folk, jazz, classical and her most popular background style, easy listening.
