Westwind Brass (WWB) is a professional brass ensemble devoted to increasing people’s awareness of music. The Los Angeles Times and others have acclaimed WWB for its virtuosity, musical integrity, and diverse programming.
Performing since 1986, WWB has received recognition as a top prizewinner in two international brass competitions. WWB has performed for the Music Educators National conference and has given frequent performances for the California Music Educators Association state conferences.
Our public concerts offer a kaleidoscopic set of styles and composers from the rich Baroque sonorities of Handel and Bach to the music of world cultures. Serious art music including the jazz of Dizzy Gillespie and Thelonious Monk are embraced.
In residence at San Diego State University, the ensemble is nationally recognized for its critically acclaimed residencies, educational performances and concerts.
