Watch Susie Hansen Latin Band

The Susie Hansen Latin Band is a well-known and popular Los Angeles-based band specializing in Latin dance music -- salsa, cumbia, merengue, bachata, bolero, charanga, cha cha cha and Latin jazz.  We play a little Tex/Mex and the Electric Slide in Spanish.  For a wider variety of music, we can also play pop/oldies -- swing, funk, disco, R&B, classic rock, Motown, Frank Sinatra, romantic pop.  We're great emcees, and we can help create your event timeline.

Our cocktail music is lively and fun, a perfect background to conversation.  Our dinner music is beautiful and never too loud.  Our dance music will get the audience up and moving – we aim for the feet!  Our dance band is a crowd pleaser with its rhythmic energy and drive.  The music we play appeals to a wide variety of ethnic backgrounds, and to all ages.

Here are some press comments.  Our band has received many wonderful reviews.

   • According to Don Heckman, writing in the Los Angeles Times, "Hansen was a ball of energy, creating an atmosphere of high voltage excitement."

   • Brian McGackin wrote in the Glendale News-Press:  “I am usually hesitant to rave so dramatically about the quality of a band, but I just cannot seem to help myself. Fun and upbeat, it's hard not to get up and dance.”

   • Phil Elwood of the San Francisco Examiner described my band this way: "It’s a sizzling, swinging band. Hansen can solo as if her bow was afire. The whole room was jumpin’ for joy.”

Some optional services:

     • We can provide our band-and-DJ package.  Our DJ does a terrific job mixing, and has just about every song you might want.  Typically, the band starts to play at the beginning of cocktail hour or dinner, and the DJ plays during the band's breaks.  Then when the band if finished, the DJ plays until the end of the party, spinning great music until the wee hours of the morning.  Both the band and the DJ are available to emcee during your event.

     • We have terrific Salsa dancers who can provide a lively and flashy floor show, teach the Latin dance steps (or swing, and more) to the guests, and break the ice on the dance floor. The dancers can start a line dance, mix and mingle with the audience, teach the electric slide, dance individually with the guests and lead a conga line. Together with the band, it’s a great party package.

     • If your event has an awards presentation, we can perform from our large repertoire of lively and up-beat “play-on” music. We look for the perfect selection for each speaker, award recipient or presenter, and after his/her introduction, we’ll play the song with great enthusiasm as she walks to the stage, during any photos and as she leaves the stage. With your assistance, we'll choose music that is particularly appropriate for the luminaries of your evening.    Please email for our current play-on songlist

     • We can provide many technical options, including lights (stage lights, dance floor lights, uplighting, pin spots, GOBO monograms), photo booth (closed or open booth, unlimited photos, props and an attendant), event sound systems, video screens.

Our band has been together for 30 years, and with the exception of the first two pandemic years, we have played 100 to 150 events each and every year.  Our band is always professional, reliable, on time and courteous.  We dress well and look great.  We always have fun, and so will your guests!
